....Prior to starting Sherwood Forest and The Highlands at Sherwood Forest, Terri and I lived on our sailboat for 5 years. We sailed mostly the East Coast of the United States and the Bahama Islands. We kept returning to North Carolina, it seemed to be the perfect choice for northerner's seeking a mild climate yet wanting to be close enough to drive home for visits. Soon we realized we were home. It is hard to find an area that is so relaxing and has such a peaceful friendly environment. Fortunate enough to find a pine forest that reminded us of our home in the Pinelands of New Jersey, our goal to build a community of affordably priced homes in a luxurious setting was underway. We wanted to establish a quality of life which is usually associated with much more expensive homes. In order to accomplish this goal it was determined that off-site construction was the best solution. We could offer the finest homes for 35% to 50% less that site-built or "stick-built". Now we had everything but residents... and then one by one from all parts of the country a really great group of people began to move in.... from all over New York State, Charlotte NC, Denver Colorado, Florida, The Outer Banks of NC, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the mid-west, California, Boston, and we are even in touch with someone from Honolulu.
